Jordan Reyes (Chicago)
Sand Like Stardust
American Dreams Records

The local composer and member of post genre experimenters ONO, presents a very different conceptual record than his spring effort Closer. He “envisioned the record as a journey through human expression over the course of one day,” and from what is already available it promises to be an experience. Much more subdued and haunting than the artist's former work.

TR!C (Chicago)
BARE
Self Released

We’ll have to wait till Tuesday the 24th to dig into this debut from Chicago hip hop upstart TR!C. Taking cues from his Congolese and Haitian heritage, TR!C brings the rhythms of the African diaspora to alt R&B grooves, creating a hip hop experience overflowing with danceable grooves and impassioned stories.

Anna McClellan (Omaha, NE)
I saw first light
Father/Daughter Records

At some point we all return home, and I saw first light documents McClellan’s turn at leaving Omaha for New York only to come back into the western fold. In our current social upheaval, with many reaching for the comfort of the known, this record is sure to strike a chord in many wayward souls.

Mamalarky (Los Angeles, CA)
Mamalarky
Fire Talk

Exactly what you would expect from a new Fire Talk signee, the unexpected. A somber yet sunny, melodic yet dissonant romp punctuated by the near Nico tone of lead singer Livvy Bennett. Precisely what we need to jam through an isolated holiday season.

Partner (Windsor, Ontario)
Never Give Up
You’ve Changed Records

Rock you say? Partner has your recipe. Josée Caron and Lucy Niles are guitar queens and they bust-out with their second full length. A long awaited followup to their 2017 critical darling Search Of Lost Time. If the singles have anything to say it’s going to be a doozie. The riff of the latest single “Honey” sticks around.

That’s it for this week. Some other great finds include live records from Dream Wife and The War On Drugs, grindcore favs Fuck The Facts new album arrives, and funk mavens Tank and The Bangas release a star studded features EP where they bring all their friends to the party!

It bears repeating, we want to cover Chicago music, so if you have something coming out, please submit it!
