YOU

An ear worm from this local R&B crooner spent all month working its way through our playlists. From her debut EP trust issues, dropping next week, April 9th, “YOU” balances the romantic with the power of taking back one's life through song.

Glittermoneyyy

Peggy Sue

How could you not get down to this ode to the strap-on? The lovable raunchy duo hits again with this banger that is sure to make even the sexually adventurous blush a bit.

Pixel Grip

ALPHAPUSSY

Each single from the upcoming sophomore release ARENA (May 21st) by our favorite electro goth trio gets us more and more worked up. We can’t wait to be right up front and dancing in the dark to their magical beats.

Mia Joy

Freak

A beautiful third tune from her Fire Talk debut Spirit Tamer, out May 7th. Mia Joy’s music captures vulnerability and strength, all in the same breath.

Trash

The final single from Vivian McCall’s (formerly of Jungle Green) new project before the self-titled album drops this Friday, displays yet another genre exploration. A soft bedroom pop track, “Trash” shows off McCall’s impressive songwriting range.

Old Joy

Hook, Line & Sinking

The latest from longstanding scenester Alex Riendl (Shiloh / Sonny Falls / Dogs At Large). While he’s been under the moniker since 2017, Trash Your Life (April 2nd) is his full length debut under the project. “Hook, Line & Sinking” shows the promise of what a full Old Joy album can be.

Moontype

Stuck On You

One more single from what is guaranteed to be an excellent record from this local indie trio. Bodies of Water appears this Friday, April 2nd. A quick bouncy jaunt, “Stuck On You” has a melody that just refuses to go away and devolves into the beauty of a quick guitar solo.

Spiritual Mick

MUCHER MADNESS (Or The Democracy Of Killing Everything That Moves)

The first glimpse into the musical madness of Mick Fansler’s (The Curls) side project is a mashup of Talking Heads meets The Cars meets a fist full of acid. Exactly what is expected from one of Chicago’s most inventive art rockers.

Sharkula, Mukqs

I’m A Workhorse (Stay Strong)

If you don’t know who Sharkula is you should find out. The most prolific Chicago street poet/artist/emcee out there, backed by beats from the incomparable Mukqs, makes their upcoming collab Take Caution On The Beach (April 9th) one of the springs most anticipated releases.

FACS

General Public

Void Moments was one of our favorite records of 2020, and only a year later the hard hitting post-rock trio returns with yet another deliciously deconstructed sound wave. “General Public” is the second single from their upcoming Present Tense set to drop May 21st.

Essential Forever

Walk

Another Jungle Green member branching out on their own, Alex Heaney’s solo project embraces the sounds of sixties AM radio on the new record “There's A Lot Still To Say About Essential Forever” due out next Friday, April 9th.

Rob Frye

XC175020

The first glimpse into long standing Chicago musician Rob Frye’s solo debut does not disappoint. Featuring fellow Bitchin Bajas and Cave members Cooper Crain (who also recorded and mixed) and a who’s who of local talent including Ben Lamar Gay, Macie Stewart, Tommaso Moretti, Quin Kirchner, Dan Quinlivan and more, this proto samba tune shows just how excited any fan of the local experimental scene should be to absorb this whole project when it drops April 23rd.
