Rushing over to G-Man Tavern straight from Ganser’s powerhouse set at Record Breakers was a tale of two environments, the already libatious party taking place inside G-Man’s side bar venue after sets from Lauren Anderson and Impulsive Hearts (apologies to those great artists for missing their sets) was a stark difference. As the Americana six piece took the stage and started to rip through their new self titled EP, Claire and the Bears had the crowd whipped up in a frenzy of flailing arms and dancing feet. The unstoppable energy and vocal prowess of Claire Feeney is enough to drive the bluesy Americana but the talents of John Szymanski on lead guitar and Austin D Oie on rhythm Guitar and vocals push the tunes to the edge. As the rhythm section of Johnathan Bastian (bass), Roy Freeman (keys) and Sean McGill (Drums) provide a steady floor for their leader to shine. While Running through all the tunes off the new self titled release, and adding in a few covers for good measure, they had the crowd begging for more and didn’t even bother to leave stage before giving their all with an energetic encore.
