summer FEST GUIDE
Welcome to our summer festival guide. Here you’ll find all the street fests and larger music fests we believe are worth attending. There are so many street fests each weekend, especially late in the summer, and we know it can be tough deciding which to attend. So we are trying to make it easy by giving you a brief description of the festival, admission/suggested donation prices and the lineup schedule (or if it’s a big fest the link to that schedule.) We’ll also give you tips on what security is like, how crowded it usually is, and how best to enjoy each and every summer weekend night spent under the Chicago sky soaking in some great tunes.
This is an ongoing page. Currently it only goes through July and includes Lollapalooza. We will update the rest of the summer fest in the weeks to come. Many fests have not announced their lineups or schedules yet, but as soon as they do we will get them up on here so this can serve as your guide for this weekend’s best fests!
A note: It is not often we decline to pay the suggested donation. We understand that sometimes that my not be in your budget. Remember that these fests are mainly run by neighborhood associations and they are paying the bands out of that money. The more they take in the more likely they will be able to hold the fest next year, and hopefully use any profits to benefit the neighborhood. So if you can afford it, please pay the suggested donation.

Thrown by Goose Island this large block party has attracted thousands the last several years with killer lineups and this year is no different. We expect the beers to be flowing to the complicated tunes of TV On The Radio and the southern rock of Drive By Truckers. Two huge bands that you can see for free if you get there in time. They always have far more RSVPs than they have room for so make sure to arrive near or before 5PM to insure entry.
