Instrumental electronic at its finest.

We missed this EP from Chicago rockers Silvertone back in March, but we’re glad we’ve discovered the rocking tracks on Nightdreams. An act to keep on the frontburner for sure.

Austin has a long musical history, and Walker Lukens has entrenched himself in the capital of the music world with a genre-blending style that has come to a head with new record ADULT. Impossible to pin down, Lukens creates danceable indie-pop that is all substance.

Lukens is opening for Bright Light Social Hour at The Empty Bottle on May 11th. Tix are $15.


Amo Amo / Amo Amo / Amo Amo

A beautiful journey through the sonic landscape of five friends who got together with none other than Jim James for an impromptu recording session and Amo Amo was formed. Their self-titled debut is unlike anything else and needs to be experienced to be understood.

They are opening for Jim James at The Riv on May 23rd. Tix are $41.

Blending afrobeat with hip-hop and English sound system to create Ekiti Sound, Nigerian musician Leke has developed a musical revolution with debut Abeg No Vex. This is the future of music’s next century.  


Alfa Mist / Structuralism / Sekito

Another London jazz phenom, Alfa Mist’s self-taught, piano-based grooves stand apart from the pack with their smooth, cool flow. Structuralism is one of those rare records that equally calls for a quiet night at home or a kicking party.

By this point in their career, we know what to expect from Rodrigo y Gabriela, and they don’t disappoint with their excellent guitar work on Mettavolution.

The Chicago Theatre is hosting the Mexican guitar duo on May 24th. Tix are $42.29 and up.

This Memphis post-rock quartet has plenty of scene cred and have struck fuzz-laden gold with debut Drecksound. Made up of members of Ex-Cult and NOTS, Hash Redactor has set the dial to 10 and show no signs of letting up.

Seeing Other People is another quality effort from the NYC-based, multi-instrumental duo Foxygen. Pop-laden beauty that is sure to please fans of the group.

The 18-year-old phenom Beabadoobee’s sophomore record is indie-pop gold. loveworm is just as infectious and heartwarming as her debut Patched Up.

Doomgaze trio Spotlights hits all the right wavelengths with Love & Decay. A decimating record that makes you want to throw your hands up and declare victory for the New York trio.
