tiger rider / Tiger Rider / Tiger Rider

This trio out of Seattle shows that great indie rock doesn’t just come out of Chicago right now. Their self titled debut is as entertaining and challenging as they come.

Tunic / Complexion / Self Sabotage

Like bashing your head pleasurably against a wall, Tunic’s noise washes over the ear drums to make Complexion one of the best noise/hardcord records we’ve heard this year.

They are swinging through The Empty Bottle on April 21st. Tix are $10.

Hajk / Drama / Jansen

Melodic and catchy, with an emotive R&B influence, the indie rock of Oslo’s Hajk works so well that Drama ends up being an incredibly natural listen from across the pond.

Y La Bamba / Mujeres / Tender Loving Empire

This Portland based project from Luz Elena Mendoza and friends has produced a confident and quite awesome fifth studio effort with Mujeres. Y La Bamba is sure to impress even picky listeners.

Her current tour is not bringing her to Chicago.

The Hunches / Same New Thing / Almost Ready

Destroying ears and hearts in Portland since 2002 The Hunches make a return after everyone thought they were done. Same New Thing has the same spitting vocals and echoey, fuzzed out guitar as previous efforts. The Hunches never left the building.
