Contours B/W No Escape

Wyatt Grant’s solo effort turned full band project hit its stride with last year's Transparent World, and they keep things rolling with this classic 7” single that champions the jangle guitar rock that is a hallmark of the Chicago scene. These tracks need your ears.

They just played a DIY show last weekend to celebrate the single but you can catch them open for Bad Bad Hats at Schubas on January 16th as part of TMK Fest! Tix are $15. Or $100 for five day pass.

Excited

The man has been dropping some sick singles the past couple weeks and just sold out the SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE!  Get this song in your brain.

WORLD TOUR! HE WILL BE BACK HOME SOON!

Chance The Rapper
My Own Thing (feat. Joey Purp) and The Man Who Has Everything

In the same vein as the tracks he dropped this summer, the most famous of Chicago’s young rappers consistent quality just keeps coming. And his activist side is really starting to show. The man wrote an op ed in the Chicago Tribune about the closing of a Southside Elementary School.

Chance has no current dates on his slate.

Andy Hull and Brian Sella trade vocals back and forth while a pensive sound develops behind acoustic guitars, strings and synths to build a harmonic climax that is purely both bands at once. This was the first foray into the studio together in celebration of their tour together.

Which comes to town this Saturday at The Aragon. Tix are $32.50.

Le Butcherettes
father/ELOHIM

Garage punk from South of the border that has always had a gloriously irreverent approach. This is the fourth single off upcoming album bi/MENTAL, due out February 1st.

They are making a trip to Cobra Lounge February 20th. Tix are $15.

Durand Jones & The Indications
Don’t You Know (feat. Aaron Frazer)

The throwback style of this soul man and his singing drummer, with a band full of guys that have cut their chops on the road, is always a breath of fresh air. So damn good. . . right out of Bloomington, Indiana.  The first single off new album American Love Call, due out March 1st.

They are rolling through Thalia Hall on April 11th. Tix are $17 - $30.

Failure

The best single so far from the forthcoming album Late Riser, dropping January 18th. Christina Cone’s vocals just float above the flurry of guitar as they drive the tune home.

They were just in town this October and we can’t find any future dates in Chicago. We expect that to change once this album hits.
