WHAT WE’VE BEEN JAMMING TO
ISSUE #37 / NOVEMBER 28, 2018
Saba , IDK
Another new track from the West Side rapper is more of the same affecting hip hop he’s been putting out all year. He may be Chicago’s best male rapper at the moment.
He’s currently gearing up for a Winter Euro tour but has no hometown dates coming up.
Trying his hand at the goth rap game, the local genre bending musician just announced his latest EP “Hooligans” which is dropping December 14th and apparently a punk rock album coming this Spring. Do what? We can’t wait!
He just performed as part the Red Bull Music Fest this past month. We’re hoping for a large album release party in December!
After releasing this third single this month the duo announce their new album What Chaos Is Imaginary, set to drop February 1st. “Hire” really shows off Tucker’s new lower register, as they started their transition last year.
They are returning to Chicago for the fourth time in a year on April 18th. Tix are $18.
Karen O. , Danger Mouse
The first single from the collab record from Karen O., the eponymous frontwomen of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and the legendary producer Danger Mouse. If this nine minute cosmic atmospheric ride is any indication of the rest of the project it’s going to be killer.
Hopefully we get a tour out of this. We’ll keep you posted.
Earl Sweatshirt (feat. Navy Blue)
The second single from one of the youngest Odd Future members who reached his own level of fame a couple years back with his break out major label debut Doris, and now with his third record Some Rap Songs, he’s starting to grow up (he is only 24.). A Vulture interview dropped yesterday and it’s worth a read.
He is not touring at the moment.
All for Money
This Kalamazoo Bluegrass crew has never really captured their phenomenal live sound in the studio until now. There have been hints at it occasionally but this nearly eight minute jam laden single, the title track of their new album due out January 18th, is exactly how they sound live and hopefully it means the new album carries this same vibe.
They are pulling a four night run for New Years Eve at The Riv. December 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st. Tix. are $32.50 for first three nights and $55.00 for New Years. Or $139.50 for all four nights.
