WHAT WE’VE BEEN JAMMING TO
ISSUE #36 / NOVEMBER 15, 2018
Saba , Xavier Omär, Mick Jenkins
Stay Right Here
Two of Chicago’ s best MCs team up with a friend from the South for this crew tune backed by a low down jazzy track about getting down out of the life and appreciating what you have.
Saba is hitting Concord this Saturday, Nov. 24th and it is Sold Out. There were tix on the market sites if you wanna spend the dough.
Ice Cube
Arrest The President
One of the originators of political hip hop returns with a track whose title says it all. From the penner of classics “Fuck Tha Police” and “Boyz-n-tha-Hood”, this jammer does just what it’s aimed to do, putting down #45.
Cube has no current Chicago concert dates.
Cherry Glazerr
Daddi
This haunting synthy track is the first single off upcoming album Stuffed & Ready set to drop February 1st. This one’s a doozy with frontwoman Clemetine Creevy admonishing a man with skillful purpose.
Bottom Lounge is hosting them on February 23rd. Tix go on sale this Friday.
Nilüfer Yanya
Heavyweight Champion Of The Year
The solo, understated electric guitar paired with her sighing vocals, mixed in round at one point, put this track over the edge. The London pop artist has been making waves recently. We’re just waiting for that debut full length to drop!
Her current tour has her opening for the likes of Interpol and Sharon Van Etten but not on their Chicago stops.
The Marías , Triathlon
Drip
This chill discoish number from the current touring partners spans the continent. The Marias from LA and Triathlon from NYC got together before their tour to create this collab song. Excellent stuff.
Their tour is hitting Sleeping Village this Saturday, November 24th. Tix are $15.
